"It's sort of a mystery, when Halcyon was actually created. By the time I had run across the colorful Lapblaster solidbody electric dulcimers, it seems that they had stopped making them and the remaining models were being blown out through Elderly Instruments.
I finally got my hands on one in April of 2005 and it opened a whole new world of possibilities with the dulcimer. One thing that this dulcimer has that I don't see on a lot of other solidbodies is the adjustable bridge which allows you to fine-tune your action. It's spoiled me to the point of never wanting to have a dulcimer without that option. The single humbucking pickup delivers a thick, full sound with plenty of sustain.
The one drawback is that she's built for lap-sitting, and how. Heavy like you wouldn't believe and carpeted on the sides and bottoms. She dangles like a lead weight when I play standing up. A small sacrifice."
